Excerpt One

“Hmm, nothing followed us,” he said to himself in a curious tone. He reached down and stroked the back of his steed’s neck. “Very well done, my friend!” he said. As he turned around, he saw that the rest of the group had stopped near some trees to collect some shade. Janos rode up to join them and dismounted in proximity to the carriage. “What was that in those woods, Janos?” asked one of his knights. “I believe it was one of the nasty beasts whose treasure we took!” claimed the carriage driver. “Damned be the King for ordering us into that forest.” Shouts of “Aye!” came from the troops.

Excerpt Two

“There are many stories that are told of them,” Kadath said as he put the spoon down on a rock and continued. “Stories that say they retain the powers of the wizards from long ago, that they continued to fight each other over more power, more land, and more resources. The clans that are still existent today resemble only a fraction of the power of those that were present many ages ago. There was a group of warriors who banded together by some form of spells to give themselves immense abilities to combat the evil that was growing in the west.”

Excerpt Three

Casily kept her eyes on the sea and said, “There are reports I have heard that bad things are happening everywhere. In the Northern Forest, beasts are coming out of the forest and attacking travelers outside of their territory. That is very unusual of them, to be so actionable. Something is driving them out and no one knows what. I also have heard stories from knights returning to our lands, that there were ships that have shown up on the coast from the Western Kingdom. They flew the banners from King Argol, but when they landed, there was no one found aboard. No food, no supplies, just an empty ship.”
