Who is in Control of the Affairs of this World Excerpts

The Process of Creation

Excerpts One

The title of this book does not imply that Satan, a created being, has equal power with God, the Creator. Rather, this underscores the truth of what the Lord Jesus said in the Gospel of John 10: 10 and Psalm 24.

The truth reveals Satan as a thief, deceiver, and a destroyer who claims to be in control of the world (John 10: 10; Matthew 4: 8-9 KJV- paraphrased). However, Psalm 24: 1, declares that the LORD owns the earth and every living creature in it and He is in control (KJV- paraphrased).

In spite of the advancement in technology and scientific discoveries all aimed at finding lasting solutions to human problems, the plight of man has worsened more than ever. This is caused by a great disparity in wealth between the developed and developing nations, and between the rich and the poor.

The Influence of Evil Was Pervasive

Excerpts Two

Since the history of mankind and after the fall of Adam, we see the pattern that followed the fall. The devil’s influence became so strong and pervasive in the nations, that out of a multitude, only one person would stand out and declare his trust in God- the Creator of the universe. And God used these individuals to keep His divine plan and purpose active and alive for His creation throughout generations, past, and present (Gen 6: 8-9; 12: 1-3; Acts 10: 35).

After the Garden of Eden encounter, the Bible says that people began to fill the earth and the Lord saw that every intent and thoughts of the people were only evil continually (Gen 6: 4). So He decided to destroy the earth with water but only one man called Noah found favour in the sight of God, because he was a righteous man, therefore, his life and the lives of his family members were saved from the flood After the flood, God made a covenant with Noah and with the earth and with every living creature on the earth- never again to destroy the world with water (Gen 9: 18). The aim was God’s determination to preserve the earth from the effects of the flood. If God- our creator saw it fit to preserve the earth from the flood, then it is imperative that we as inhabitants of the earth should be careful about the way we use the earth on which we depend for sustenance.

Abraham- An Idol Worshipper

Excerpts Three

It is beyond my imagination when I think about how God would choose an idol worshipper like Abraham and make a nation out of him as his special people and bless the whole world through him and his descendants, no wonder, the Scripture says “God’s ways are not our ways neither His thoughts our thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). But the key issue here is that Abraham responded by accepting the call and acted on God’s Word, considering the fact that he had no idea where he was going, yet he trusted God to lead him to the land He had promised to give him and his descendants.

The Book of Joshua chapter 24 verses 2 and 3 tell us that God spoke to Abram in Ur to get out of his father’s house and to go to a land He would show him. That was reaffirmed by Stephen in the Book of Acts 7: 2-3. Abram did not move out right away but had to wait in Ur until Terah, Abram’s father, for his own reasons, decided to leave Ur to go to Canaan with several members of his family including Abram. However, they did not get to Canaan but settled in Haran where the father died.
